beach club la reserva
Sotogrande, Cádiz
2017
This garden was a design challenge as we had to create a Beach Club in an area far from the sea, situated in an environment with a completely Mediterranean character.
The planting had to satisfy a double need, the feeling of arriving at an oasis, and at the same time the harmonious integration with the Mediterranean landscape that surrounded the project.
This is why Mediterranean species such as Quercus ilex and Quercus suber, Tamarix gallica and Pistacia lentiscus were planted on the outer perimeter, which blended in with the landscape surrounding the intervention area.
The transition between the Mediterranean and this ‘tropical oasis’ took place on the access route to the Beach Club. This route runs along some stairs that allow you to dominate the space from above, a characteristic that we took advantage of to replicate a grid of Andalusian olive trees in production.
Behind the staircase, a tropical and colourful transition strip was planted with species such as Plumeria rubra, Strelitzia augusta, Agaves, Echinaceas purpureas and Gauras lindemieriis, until reaching the heart of the project, which is made up of a sheet of water accompanied by a large mass of Phoenix dactylifera palm trees that completely evoked the desired oasis.

This project would not have been successful without the unconditional support of the Sotogrande S.A. team. Francisco Díez and Santiago López, the masterminds and souls of the project.
